What is laser hair removal?Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser hair removal is the application of intense wavelength pulse of light to achieve permanent reduction of unwanted hair. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the energy produced by the laser. The energy produced by the laser destroys the hair follicle and prevents the hair from regenerating. Laser hair reduction is only able to permanently destroy the follicle if it is in the active growth stage. Only about 30% of the hair follicles are active at any one time. The other 70% are either in the regression, resting or dormant phases that either experience little or no damage to the follicle. Thus, a series of appropriately scheduled treatments are required to achieve effective laser hair reduction.
-
Is laser hair removal painful? Most clients experience minimal discomfort due to our use of the GentleLASE® Dynamic Cooling Device (TM) in conjunction with the laser. This device sprays the upper layers of skin at the laser target area with a cooling burst of cryogen in the milliseconds before the laser pulse to provide increased comfort. Discomfort can vary because of your skin color, the thickness of hair follicle and your pain tolerance. Many clients have described the process as a warming sensation, however, for highly sensitive areas, some feel more of a quick pinching sensation, but generally speaking, don’t find it too painful. Laser hair removal is extremely tolerable for almost everyone especially compared to the alternative methods of waxing, threading and tweezing.
-
How much does laser hair removal cost?Treatments are $49-$349 depending on the area. Clients need at least an average of six to eight treatments scheduled six to twelve weeks apart. Book online or contact Savvy for more details. Price are subject to change.

What do you need to do before the laser hair removal treatment?Other than your regular skin care routine, there is not a special preparation for laser hair removal. There are a few limitations to follow, but for the most part, nothing too extreme. Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF a week before and after your treatment. This helps the laser safely target and only destroy the follicle's melanin and damage the skin because UV rays increase the skin's melanin. Have a close shave within 24 hours of your appointment. Strangely enough, a close shave will decrease pain and increase treatment effectiveness. You can not wax, tweeze, bleach or use depilatory products one month before treatment or from here on after laser treatments are started. Continuing these methods of hair removal, besides shaving, will make your laser hair removal treatments not as effective. Refrain from applying makeup on the areas to be treated. Otherwise, makeup residue can absorb the laser's energy and damage the skin. Refrain from use lotion, creams, fragrances, makeup or deodorant day of the appointment, on the treated area. We can provide an opportunity to remove lotion, creams, fragrances, makeup, and deodorant before your treatment. Refrain from using sunless tanner or retinol for a week prior to the treatment area.

Why doesn’t Laser Hair Removal work on gray, white, blonde or red hair?"At Savvy, we use the Candela GentleLASE® System. This laser uses a long pulse, high-energy alexandrite laser that emits a special frequency beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where the energy is absorbed. Blonde and red hair is very resistant and has extremely limited results. White or gray hairs lack pigment do not respond at all.
-
Why will I need more than one treatment? The three cycles of hair growth are Anagen (growing), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting) and every follicle are in the same growth stage simultaneously. The laser can only destroy the hair follicles in their active growth state. In fact, for this reason, it is why you need multiple treatments are needed to achieve desired results for most individuals. Results will vary per client per area. At Savvy, we offer supplemental pricing after seven treatments completed within a reasonable time frame. Savvy will not be able to tell you how many treatments are needed because hormones and genetics play a major part in hair growth and it may take several more treatments than another individual treated the same area.
-
When will I see results?Immediately. The treatment area has been destroyed and will no longer grow. They will fall out naturally between 3-21 days after treatment. The follicle may or may not be more visible right before the follicle sheds. Shaving will exfoliate the skin, and in addition, shave helps the hair follicles fall out faster. Many clients will shave the area when the remimnents of the follicle begin reach the surface.

What is Celluma LEDCelluma LED, is a low-level-light energy device based on NASA technology and FDA Cleared to treat many musculoskeletal and skin conditions. Based on scientific research pioneered by NASA, the Celluma is a specialized light energy device FDA Cleared to treat: Inflammatory Acne, Muscle and Joint Pain, Arthritis, Muscle and Tissue Tension, Muscle Spasm. Light energy is emitted from a flexible and shape-taking light array panel, absorbed at the surface of the skin to re-establish normal cellular health and function. Celluma's patented delivery system emits three specific wavelengths of modulated light controlled by proprietary software algorithms. The benefits of using three different wavelengths is that light absorbing molecules use the various wavelengths as a signaling mechanism for different cellular processes. For example the various wavelengths and the red, blue and infrared lights reduce inflammation, stimulate collagen production, and some kill bacteria, while others enhance localized circulation. Patented, pulsed-wave technology controlled by proprietary software algorithms add to the applicability of the Celluma. It is a polychromatic device that delivers blue (465nm), red (640) and infrared (880) light energy simultaneously to safely treat a wide variety of conditions easily and affordably. There are no known adverse effects to either practitioner or client/ patient. Compared to low-level light therapy delivered by certain lasers, there is no harmful thermal effect to tissue and no danger to the eye. This makes the Celluma a viable, safe, and affordable alternative to cold lasers which have similar indications for use. LED light therapy is proven to trigger the body to convert light energy into cell energy without thermal heat. LED therapy is a non-invasive treatment that requires no down time. Red Light Therapy skin benefits -Stimulates collagen formation -Increases adenosine triphosphate (ATP) -Stimulates cell turnover -Minimizes mild scarring -Reduces hyperpigmentation -Minimizes pore size -Reduces wound healing time -Reduces inflammation -Smoother and improved surface texture -Reduces pigmentation -Increases circulation and moisture retention. Blue LED Light Therapy skin benefits -Minimizes (inflamed and non-inflamed) acne conditions -Emits a single oxygen molecule to retard the growth of bacteria -Proportions bacteria: 90% of the contributing factors to acne. Infrared Light Therapy skin benefits -Increases circulation: The increased circulation heals and repairs damaged skin tissue. This increase in circulation also causes the body to rid itself of wastes and toxins. Stimulates the production of collagen which lessens build up of scar tissue. -Reduces overall redness, skin damage, and dilated capillaries. -Improves healing of acne, lessen coarseness, and help sun-damaged skin. -Skin that feels and looks younger. -Wrinkle reducer and diminishes skin effects from aging, smoking, and weather. -Increases lymphatic system activity. Research has shown that the lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with light therapy. -Increases RNA and DNA synthesis. This helps damaged cells to be replaced more promptly. RNA, Ribonucleic Acid, a polymeric constituent of all living cells. A series of Celluma Mini Treatments can help control and redue acne, diminish hyperpigmentation, and rejuvenate your skin by stimulating cellular activity. Series are appointments done twice a week for best results.

What is an Ultrasonic Spatula? The Ultrasonic Spatula is the new generation of microdermabrasion or otherwise called soft peeling. There is very little to no redness or downtime with this gentle treatment. Ultrasonic Spatula uses noninvasive sound waves to create results-oriented treatments. This helps cleanse and exfoliate the skin by removing dead skin cells as well as assisting in product penetration into the deeper levels of skin tissue with sound waves at 28,000 vibrations per second. Skin is left amazingly smooth and glowing because the ultrasonic spatula renews the skin, reduces the appearance of pores and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Ultrasonic Spatula also helps clear the pores of oil and debris with minimal discomfort making extractions less painful but more importantly, effective. This modality is included in every skin treatment unless contraindicated.

What do Enzymes do?A powerful blend of natural fruit ingredients that dissolve dead skin cells, letting the healthier and younger skin cells to glow. This is called cellular renewal. Skin's cells renew themselves every 28-48 days. The cells take longer to replenish themselves as we age. Meanwhile, the skin will look older, dull and layers of dead skin will clog the pores if the skin isn't exfoliated on a regular basis. Enzymes also help with microcirculation, that gives your skin a healthy glow. It will allow hydration products to penetrate much deeper and more effectively. Stimulates collagen and elastin to tighten and prevent sagging as well as lightens dark spots and brighten the skin's tone. Enzymes are professionally picked to the client's needs and some course of treatments will require a series of treatments for effective results.

What is the difference between Enzyme peels and Chemical Peels?Chemical peels are a more powerful form of exfoliation than the gentler enzyme peels. The enzymes can be boosted with chemical peels or can be used as a standalone treatment. All chemical peels require a consult, introductory skin treatment, and required skin care home routine approval, before your first treatment. Chemical peel normally requires a series of treatments for effective results.
